Explore simple strategies to overcome formatting challenges, increase accuracy of address inputs, and ensure quality search results
Using improper or incomplete address formatting in our search system can result in inaccurate results, especially when address inputs are missing specific elements.
Each time you search an address using the WSRB system, it’s important to incorporate all available address elements for optimal search accuracy. These include:
- Street Address: The specific location or building number along with the street name
- City/Town: The locality where the address is situated
- State/Province: The administrative division within a country (within the WSRB system, this will always be WA)
- Postal Code/ZIP Code: The numeric or alphanumeric code used for mail delivery
Even when you have all the necessary elements of a complete address, inaccurate results can still occur.
Because of this, it’s important to adhere to USPS standards for precise address searches. For more information of proper USPS abbreviations, access these resources:

NOTE: State Route formatting is notoriously tricky – it is almost always better to abbreviate to ST RT, SR, or WA-#
